“Three times a week, culture hungry

New Yorkers flock to… for Food for Thought.”

~ The New York Times ~

SPRING 2007

Food for Thought Productions is the primary company in New York dedicated to providing a venue for one-act plays. Our flagship series, Lunch Hour Theatre, launched in September 2000. In September 2005, The Players began hosting and co-sponsoring the show in the historic landmark Edwin Booth Mansion in Gramercy Park. The union has proven to be a tremendous success.

Lunch Hour Theatre began as the brainchild of playwright and Artistic Director, Susan Charlotte, to provide a home for the oft neglected one-act play, and to couple it with a light lunch. Patrons arrive at The Players before 1 p.m., enjoy a delicious buffet-style sandwich lunch, and then take in a one-act play by an award-winning writer read by New York’s finest actors. The plays are presented simply, without the trappings of lights or sets - just the actors and the text. The audience is then privy to an intimate question and answer period with the actors, directors, and writers.

Additionally, our evening event, Cocktail Hour Theatre, replaces lunch with drinks and hors d’oeuvres, while faithfully maintaining the rest of the afternoon “menu”: the finest writing, acting and directing talent our City has to offer.

Lunch Hour Theatre is presented seasonally, two to three times a week. Subscription packages are available. Nighttime events are offered monthly. See schedules listed above and below. Call 212-362-2560 or 646-366-9340 to make reservations or for more information.
